Mallorca! What a wonderful and underestimated island to visit high end luxury hotels, hotspots and astonishing nature! I am more than overwhelmed by its beauty and in love. It was the first time that I visited Mallorca and I didn’t really know what to expect from it, I heard some amazing stories about it, but also thought about the drunk people in Playa de Palma and Magaluf (if you think about Mallorca this is one if the first things in your mind – right?) And why should you go to Mallorca if Ibiza is more popular at the moment? In my opinion the general image of Mallorca is not correct at all!
My traveling brought me from the old town of Alcudia over the Serra de Tramuntana mountains, a UNIESCO World Heritage Site since 2011, to small magical villages like Deia and ended my trip in one the most amazing hotels of the world that capture the full authentic beauty of Mallorca, the Castell Son Claret. If you are running a busy life in a hectic European city and you are longing for excellent tranquility and wellbeing, this Leading Luxury Hotel is the place to go!After a long road trip my boyfriend and I arrived at the immense peaceful estate of Castell Son Claret. The way up to the Castell is already an exceptional experience. Driving up the long the large driveway I was amazed by the gardens, fountains and the view of the Castell. I immediately knew that I was entering a special place.
Overwhelmed by the fresh smell of lemons, almonds, flowers and olives we set foot on the estate that once belonged to Don Gabriel Claret and per historical data first founded back in 1450. Immediately we received a very personal and warm welcome. The staff gave us the feeling that we were lost family members being welcomed back home. The art of service lies in the DNA of the staff. Checking-in was a very personal and very smooth experience. You will immediately recognize that you have made the right decision coming to Castell Son Claret.
While our luggage was being brought out of the car to our room, they give us the time to refresh at the terrace with a perfect welcome drink made with their own lemons from the garden. Thinking of the taste right now, the whole memory comes back to life again. The hotel was renovated only five years ago keeping the old architecture of the Castell alive. The rooms and facilities on the other hand are decorated in a timelessly luxurious style. Opening the windows of our room I had an incredible view of the beautiful gardens, the swimming pool and the Serra de Tramuntana further down the landscape. Delighted by the delicious welcome cake from the Zaranda Restaurant, the only two starred Michelin restaurant on the Balearic Island, and a glass of champagne we very romantically relaxed and enjoyed the views.he beautiful surroundings were longing to me and I needed to take some pictures. When you’re surrounded by such an incredible environment it’s more than worth doing a shoot. So we made a lot of amazing pictures before we headed off to the pool to spend the rest of the afternoon.Relaxed and refreshed again we prepared ourselves for dinner. I always enjoy to have an aperitif at the bar before going to the table. So we set down at the Castell Bar for the most amazing cocktail, made with products from their own garden, like fresh herbs and seasonal fruit featured in classics like the Negroni or a Martini Cocktail. Locally produced olive oil and limes from their orchard are key ingredients in the Castell Daiquiri. The most friendly, Anette Andersen, who is part of the management team, joined us to explain more about the activities and services of the hotel. But more importantly she was able to confirm that, the special warm feeling that we received when arriving is always intended like that. She explained that they carefully select the team and each and every person enjoys working at the hotel and to service the guest in the most personal and friendly way. We went for dinner at the Olivera Restaurant. It was a nice and warm evening so they prepared a lovely table for two outside. We started with a beautiful local white wine, appetizers and bread from their own bakery. The first course was the best homemade burrata I have ever, ever, ever tasted with aubergine “Caponata”. As a main course I chose the Mediterranean Sea bass with pak choi, mussels and green curry (very delicious and special). The Rum Babá with vanilla ice-cream and a great dessert wine made the experience complete. This dinner was more than perfect and we enjoyed every second of it. Even more so because we were so good taking care of by the wonderful that gave their best service! Thanks again guys! The next morning, after a great night of sleep, we set down at the terrace again for breakfast. We were still enjoying the dinner from last night and felt blessed with such overall incredible experience. After breakfast we went for a morning walk in the beautiful garden and to enjoy the peace and beauty again.( “Ohh boy I do miss this place very much, being back in rainy Amsterdam!”)
It was time to pack our stuff and head off to our next location. It hurts to say goodbye to this hotel, but saying goodbye doesn’t mean you will not come back again. It’s more like: we are already saying hello in the next visit – we will come to your magical hotel.
For me this hotel was a real paradise, it was more there was such a peaceful and tranquil that I have never experienced before. It felt as though your heart and soul have found a new home.
